Save the Date: OMG's Business Agility in the Insurance Industry Workshop
From Fragile to Agile: SOA, Business Modeling & Architecture-Driven Modernization
in the Insurance Industry; February 11-13, 2008 in Stamford, CT, USA

Needham, MA, USA - November 26, 2007 - The Object Management Group™ (OMG™), today announced that the "Business Agility in the Insurance Industry" workshop will be held February 11-13, 2008 in Stamford, CT, USA. The preliminary program and registration details may be found online at http://www.omg.org/ins-ws-sv-dt.

The theme of this workshop is "From Fragile to Agile: SOA, Business Modeling & Architecture-Driven Modernization in the Insurance Industry." Realities of the "Flat World" (Internet driven economy, coupled with globally dispersed organizations and their resources: people, processes, IT, etc.) dictate that Insurers must become "Agile" in order to successfully compete and grow. To become "Agile" they must be able to sense, interpret and respond to "Events" (Business, IT and others) in a timely and cost effective manner. Although SOA is being promoted as the "Agility Medicine," the question is often raised, is SOA alone enough?

This three-day workshop will provide discussions, guidance and evidence by distinguished industry leaders on:

  • What are "Business Agility" and its mandatory "ingredients?"
  • Why modeling your business motivation, processes, data/information, events and compliance yields a better ROI and preserves intellectual property while shielding you from fluidity of implementation platforms.
  • How Insurers can utilize OMG's Model Driven Architecture® (MDA®) driven standards, coupled with Insurance domain specific Business Glossaries to establish a platform agnostic foundation for the much sought after Agility.
  • How insurers can employ architecture-driven modernization to visualize, refactor and transform aging information architectures to achieve bottom-line business benefits.
  • How Insurers can leverage interrelated OMG standards-based tools to transform existing architectures and infrastructures into model driven environments.

There will also be technology exhibits and demonstrations to support the above assertions.
